Dok Khao Thai Eatery - Chevy Chase: Authentic Upscale Thai Cuisine & Unique Desserts

Amazing food, attentive and friendly service, beautiful decor and lovely ambience. The restaurant was filled to maximum capacity on a Thursday evening. We are glad that we made reservations beforehand. We ordered the whole branzino (medium spice), lychee duck curry (medium spice), Thai tea tornado shaved ice (fun!) and the Thai tea crème brûlée. Everything was so so so good. The branzino was fried to perfection and the sauce on the side was super flavorful. It was not that spicy in my opinion. The duck curry spice level at medium was just right. My husband who is not very tolerant of spice felt that the medium was spicy. The curry was generously filled with slices of duck meat (no bones), bell peppers, pineapples, cherry tomatoes, lychee and basil. I wish there were more lychee because they were delicious in the curry sauce! The duck reminded me of Cantonese chasiu. The texture was a little drier than expected, so hopefully it’s more tender the next time we come. The shaved ice was so unique and delectable. Our daughter had a great time pulling out the plastic film to release the “volcano!” The combination of the salty cream over the sweet Thai tea shaved ice was perfect. We would come back just for the shaved ice dessert. The crème brulee didn’t taste like strong Thai tea flavor but it was still so delicious. We asked our server, Kit, if we can come in just for dessert in the future and he said it would be totally fine. Kit provided us top notch service throughout the whole meal. Towards the end of the meal, Pat, the owner-chef, came to our table to introduce herself and provided such a warm welcome. We were also surprised that she offered to take away our finished dessert plates. It was such a pleasant and humble encounter! Every server and staff smiled so warmly as we left the restaurant. This is probably now my favorite Thai restaurant in the DMV area. We live less than 10 minutes from here, so we’ll definitely be back! Lastly, we found out that they validate parking at the parking lot where Amazon Fresh is. We didn’t know so we parked on the street.

Drinks had lychee Thai ice tea, apps had the crispy duck roll and the fried egg rolls w salmon, entrees had their special pad Thai and the deep fried Branzino. All amazing food. The fried fish made me feel like I was back in Thailand. Dessert had the coconut cream sticky rice. Phenomenal all around loved everything about this place. This place is also on Resy if you have any Amex plat credit!

Outstanding upscale Thai restaurant in Chevy Chase. Nicely designed interior, well decorated for the holidays. The service is very attentive, staff is friendly. We had a variety of wait staff checking on us throughout, which was more than you'd expect from most restaurants. The menu is pretty unique, many specials and an extensive cocktail menu. The prices are expensive, but you can be assured the leases in this locale are as well.

First time visiting and plan to come back soon. CJ at the bar was awesome and makes delicious cocktails and was very friendly and welcoming. Nat was also very helpful and let my fiend and I know about Happy Hour specials so we know when to optimize our return visit! Had the Street Noodles that were very tasty and filling. Definitely plan on returning soon. Thank you for your amazing hospitality

I went during lunch with my aunt on a weekend. The scenery is gorgeous, wasn't too crowded, plenty of seating. The music was also pleasant. Multiple servers came over to check on us often, which was mostly appreciated. Their specialty house pad thai was the BEST from anywhere I've had in a while. I literally licked the plate. The curry puff (picture) appetizer was sooo crispy and the sauce concoction was to die for. The volcano thai tea dessert (picture) was delicious as well - not too sweet. I would make the drive again!

Excellent experience here celebrating a good friends birthday! We got complimentary appetizers which were excellent. My crab fried rice was great. Service was good. The atmosphere was beautiful and welcoming. Definatwly recommend for a night out with friends or a date night!
